We at the Brighton Journal love music and we want to share that love with you. So with so much new music at the moment we’ve put together a list of our top picks from new releases of the past weekend.
Albums
Halsey – hopeless fountain kingdom (Deluxe)
The American singer songwriter who rose to fame in 2014 is back with her second studio album. Starting with an angsty prologue this album is full of electropop bops and is pretty much what you’d expect.
Alt-J – Relaxer
Alt-J, an English indie rock trio, released their third studio album on Friday 2nd June, after announcing a UK tour. Relaxer is unlike any of Alt-J’s previous albums, with a different vibe entirely. It also only has 8 tracks (unlike the previous albums which had 14). The band seem to slow things down with this album, creating a much more sombre tone.
Singles
Lorde – Perfect Places
She’s back and better than ever. Lorde’s latest single offers upbeat beats with thoughtful lyrics that will appeal perfectly to her teen audience. If this is anything to go by, Melodrama is going to be an album to look out for.
Arcade Fire – Everything Now
Arcade Fire have been making unforgettable music since they gained prominence within mainstream music with The Suburbs (an amazing album which, if you haven’t, you should listen to now!) The titular single of their upcoming album, Everything Now is much more uplifting than their previous work.
Foo Fighters – Run
Fronted by Dave Grohl, the iconic rock band are back with a new release, the first one in fact since Cecelia in 2015. PS, a music video was also released for this so check it out.
That’s all that’s on our release radar for now but check back on Fridays in future for the best of new music!
