Yesterday afternoon, Albion defender Gaetan Bong signed a new one-year contract at the club, leaving managers and fans delighted. After signing the contract, the player expressed his excitement and gratefulness to be given the chance to play in the Premier League.
Albion Manager Chris Hughton was delighted when hearing Bong had accepted the new contract, calling the defender a “key member of the squad in his two years at the club” and counting on him to help establish the team in the Premier League. During the 2016/17 season, the Cameroonian played no less than 24 matches, only having to pause between January and April because of a knee injury.
On his side, Gaetan Bong expressed his gratitude for the new contract, saying it has always been his dream to play in the Premier League. The player also said he wanted to work hard for his teammates with whom he has been working so hard to achieve the team’s promotion.
Bong is the first of four players to have accepted a new one-year contract at the club. David Stockdale, Steve Sidwell, and Niki Maenpaa have also been offered new contracts earlier this month but haven’t announced their decisions yet.
