The Martinez Brothers
Hailing from The Bronx, The Martinez Brothers will be showcasing their classic tech house vibes at Wild Life. The duo were named DJs of the year by Mixmag in 2014, the publication wrote that “no other DJ or DJ duo encapsulates house music in 2014 like the crown princes of DC10”. Expect ambient music and summery vibes.
Jackmaster
Glasgow born DJ and Patterns regular, Jackmaster will be an act not to miss over the festival weekend. The Scottish DJ is renowned for his in-depth and diverse music taste as well as his skilful ability to mix different genres of music. With a huge range of boiler rooms available to watch on YouTube, why not see for yourself?
The Black Madonna
Being awarded Mixmag’s DJ award of the year in 2016, you could say that The Black Madonna is kind of a big deal. Offering up funky techno vibes, Mixmag describe her as “a fantastic, eclectic selector” who is “capable of lifting the dance floor to a state of euphoria”. So if you’re looking for a DJ that exudes positivity, she’s definitely the one for you.
Heidi
Coming to Wild Life all the way from Canada is disc jockey legend, Heidi. Describing her genre as “Booty-shakin’ house, techno and disssssco” on her Facebook, you’re guaranteed a good time if you choose to attend her set. Known for touring the festival circuit, gracing events such as Global Gathering, Exit and Detroit’s Movement, Brighton is lucky to have her.
Armand Van Helden
A big name on the DJ scene, Armand Van Helden will be playing back to back with festival organisers, Disclosure. Playing skilful techno beats combined with house, this is a set you won’t want to miss. Van Helden is known for collaborating on tracks such as Dizzee Rascal’s “Bonkers”, as well as creating tracks such as “aNYway” under the name Duck Sauce.
Horse Meat Disco
Filling Wild Life weekend with funk and techno, Horse Meat Disco is the act that you need to see if you’re looking for a good time. Starting up in a basement in London’s Chinatown, HMD aimed to create a safe space for disenfranchised queer disco lovers. Their Facebook describes their music as “a glittering disco behemoth of classics, italo disco, house, oddities, Afro [and] punk funk”. Expect good tunes, good mixing and good vibes.
Gerd Janson
A regular guest at Germany’s legendary Milk Club in the 90s, Gerd Janson now runs his own record label. The venue was most popular for jungle during Janson’s reign but he preferred to wait ’til things slowed down so he could showcase some US style house, which is fitting of his present day musical stylings. You can expect Gerd Janson to deliver a hot serving of house and disco.
