The close-knit and welcoming community of Hanover are in the run-up to the Pankhurst Community Festival taking place on the 10th November at Brighton Racecourse, between 10am – 5pm.
100% of the proceeds will go to the residents of Pankhurst Avenue after a fire swept through the block of flats on the 21st September.
The all-day festival will be filled with entertainment, music, activities and workshop geared towards all age groups for full inclusivity.
There will also be a ‘grand raffle’ prize where the winner bears gifts and vouchers from local independent makers and businesses.
Talking about the motivation behind creating the fundraising festival, events coordinator Emily Wilson said,
”Knowing that the residents have lost everything and that most probably won’t have content’s insurance in place (as many of us tend not to even though we should), I knew that even though the current fundraiser has collected a generous figure, if you realistically think about how many people there are and what they’ve lost, it’s a very small amount towards starting from scratch and rebuilding your life.
I thought if there was an entire day filled with things to do and entertainment, whilst being able to contribute to helping the residents and raise proceeds, then it would be a win-win for all involved”.
There is still an opportunity for supporters and local businesses to help participate in the festival. Please email [email protected].
Tickets for the festival are available here whilst Pankhurst Avenue residents can go for free.
