Two minute silences will be observed and attended by the Deputy Mayor, Councillor Dee Simson at the Hove War Memorial, and by the Mayor and Councillor Mo Marsh in Old Steine.
Remembrance events are held in October and November each year, and services will be held throughout Brighton, Hove and Portslade to mark National Remembrance.
Alongside this Saturday’s remembrance events, a children’s act of remembrance will take place on Friday 10 November at St Bartholomew’s Church, with atendees being asked to arrive by 1.55pm.
Sunday will be host to the majority of events, with a short service in regency square at 8.55 for the Royal Sussex Regimental Association, a parade departing from Madeira Drive for a service and wreath laying ceremony beginning at 11am (arrive for 10.55), and a wreath laying ceremony at Easthill Park Memorial in Portslade, which will be followed by refreshments in St Nicholas Church Hall.
A short wreath-laying ceremony will also take place in Hove Cemetery, first at the North Gate Memorial at 11am, followed by the same ceremony at the South Gate Memorial.
There will be a service and a wreath laying ceremony at the War Memorial in Hove beginning at 2.30pm, from which the Parade will process to All Saints Church for a full Service of Remembrance beginning at 3pm.
A service will be held at Progressive Synagogue in Lansdowne Road at 4.30pm for the Brighton & Hove branch of the Association of Jewish Ex-Servicemen & Women’s Service.
