AMEX Stadium – 14th June 2025

4 stars

Brighton Comic Con took place at the AMEX Stadium on 14 June, drawing a strong turnout from fans, families and collectors. The event covered a wide range of pop culture, from sci fi and comics to gaming and film with a busy atmosphere throughout the day.

Guests included well-known names such as Brian Blessed, Colin Baker and Katy Manning, all of whom attracted steady crowds. Guests like Garrick Hagon, Mike Quinn and puppeteer Ronnie Le Drew also offered something for long-time fans. Panels were informal and engaging, giving attendees a chance to hear stories in a relaxed setting.

There were plenty of props and displays to explore. Popular photo spots included the Batmobile, the Iron Throne, Mario-themed scenery and a replica of ET with Elliott’s bike. The retro gaming area was a nice touch, though more machines would have helped ease the wait and given more people a chance to join in.

Traders had a wide range of stock such as fan art, 3D printed items, custom merchandise, vintage toys, Pokemon cards and gaming memorabilia. Many were approachable and happy to talk about their work, which added to the community feel of the event. Prices varied, but there were options for most budgets.

Cosplay was a strong feature with a mix of recognisable characters and original ideas adding to the fun. There was also a stand with free escape room-style challenges to enjoy.

There were some issues. A fire alarm in the morning caused long queues and a rushed start, while the smell from the toilets in parts of the stadium was hard to ignore. Space was generally well managed but a larger venue could definitely help next time.

Brighton Comic Con delivered a solid day out with plenty to see, do and buy for all ages.
