Komedia Brighton – 28th April 2025

Brighton’s Komedia lit up with the arrival of I Do Think, a solo outing from Divina de Campo that brought cabaret, comedy and personal storytelling to the stage. Known for her high-camp drag and vocal range, De Campo delivered a night that was emotionally honest and sharply funny.

Backed by clever musical choices and an easy rapport with the crowd, she steered the evening through snapshots of her life and career with equal parts polish and pathos. Vocals soared, jokes landed and her frank, Yorkshire delivery kept everything grounded.

Fans of Ru Paul’s Drag Race UK were treated to plenty of behind-the-scenes gossip with well-aimed jabs at former cast mates raising big laughs. But this wasn’t just a roast because moments of vulnerability gave the show weight, including an unflinching account of surviving grooming as a teenager. Delivered without melodrama, it was the most still and affecting part of the night.

Even in its quieter parts, the show never lost its pace. Songs were chosen with intention, shifting easily between irreverent and sincere, and De Campo’s voice proved capable of handling both extremes.

She welcomed the audience into her world without pretense, managing to appear glamorous and genuinely open, showcasing her charm and candour.

By the end of the night, it felt less like a performance and more like a catch-up with someone who’s lived a lot, laughed through most of it and is willing to tell the truth with a wink.
