15th December 2024 – Komedia, Brighton

5 stars

The Suspiciously Elvis tribute show at Komedia delivered a dazzling night of nostalgia, swagger and plenty of hip-shaking. Ivor Potter, in his rhinestone-clad glory, had the crowd’s attention the moment he stepped on stage.

His rich vocals, perfectly matched to Elvis’ signature sound, set the tone for an evening packed with classics, energy and a bit of cheeky charm.

The setlist was a whirlwind tour of Elvis’ hits, leaning into his Vegas-era showmanship. By the second song, I Got a Woman, the audience was already clapping and singing along with their feet tapping. From that point on, it was like a runaway train of fan favourites.

Burning Love, Hound Dog and Suspicious Minds kept the party going, while slower numbers like The Wonder of You offered just the right amount of chill before things ramped up again. A rousing rendition of Sweet Caroline turned Komedia Brighton into a mass singalong.

Ivor’s playful attitude made the show even more enjoyable. He embodied the spirit of The King, complete with those iconic dance moves and a twinkle in his eye.

The Elvis accent stayed strong throughout, adding a fun layer of authenticity. His sense of humour and easy-going vibe made it clear he was having a blast and the audience fed off that energy.

The band, a slick six-piece ensemble and backing singers, brought Elvis’ sound to life effortlessly. The backing singers were on point, with a standout vocalist whose belting high notes added an extra punch to the performance.

The musicians nailed every beat, keeping the show tight. Ivor’s connection with the crowd was spot-on. He knew when to crank up the energy and when to pull it back, creating a perfect flow. The two-hour set flew by in a blur of sequins, classic tunes and dancing.
