Brighton & Hove Museums played host to a group of Ukrainian refugees who wanted to visit the Royal Pavilion last week.The group from Wendover in Buckinghamshire travelled to Brighton for their visit.
Ranging from seven years old to 65 years, the 35 Ukrainians were all forced to leave their country to flee the war currently taking place in their homeland.
Organiser Tania Orlova said: “The visit to The Royal Pavilion was a unique cultural experience and contributed to the well-being and enrichment of our community members. There were 35 of us in all and we enjoyed a trip to the beach and fish and chips for lunch.
“Our tour of the Royal Pavilion was the highlight at the end of the day. It was so amazing and beautiful. We were so thrilled to visit the palace and want to thank everyone for being so kind to us.”
CEO of Brighton & Hove Museums Hedley Swain said: “We were happy to welcome the group of Ukrainian people who are currently living in Wendover to the Royal Pavilion. They have all had to face immense difficulties in their lives and we were happy they enjoyed their day in Brighton and the Royal Pavilion.”
The Royal Pavilion has been lit up in blue and yellow on two occasions to show solidarity with Ukraine since war with Russia started in 2022.
