Same-sex marriage and abortion became legal in Northern Ireland at midnight last night, despite a last minute attempt to block the change.
The change in legislation brings the entirety of the United Kingdom into line and marks a momentous day for women and the LGBTQ+ community.
The move comes after MPs voted to extend LGBT and abortion legislation to Northern Ireland.
Many of Northern Ireland’s residents have remarked on the change being “long overdue” and a “historic leap for humans rights”.
