While some sign new contracts, others are asked to leave at the Brighton and Hove Albion. That is the case for commercial chief and former team captain Paul Rogers. In an official statement released yesterday afternoon, the club announced the immediate end of his employment contract because of a case of “gross misconduct”.
As the club is currently preparing for its first season in the Premier League, the dismissal of their commercial and premium partnerships manager comes as a shock. The decision has followed an intense investigation of the case and gone into effect immediately. In his statement, the club refused to give any more comments on the affair.
The now ex-commercial manager has been associated with the Brighton and Hove Albion for 20 years. He first joined the club as a player back in 1999 and was team captain when they subsequently won the League 1 and 2 trophies in 2001 and 2002.
Since 2008, he has been the club’s commercial manager. One of his biggest achievements was to set up the premium seat 1901 Club back in 2011 when the Seagulls moved to the Amex Stadium.
