Though events this weekend seem to be focused one on event and one event only, there are plenty of other non-Halloween things to do this weekend in Brighton.

Animals in the Frame at the Hove Museum: For some non-Halloween family fun head to the Hove Museum where there’s a new exhibition examining the relationship between humans and animals. Whether it is admiration for the more majestic animals in the animal kingdom or studying why exactly a dog is a man’s best friend, it’s bound to be adorable fun for everyone.10761415043_b7c05dd021_o

London to Brighton Veteran Car Run: Halloween? Pfft, it’s all about the veteran car run. Celebrate the passing of the ‘Locomotives Act’ which allowed cars to go up to 14mph and did not have to be preceded by a man on foot. The World’s Longest Running Motoring Event should be good fun and it gives you a chance to see five hundred vehicles from pre-1905 travelling on public roads. City Reads Book Swap: Part of the city-wide, month long event City Reads are putting on a book swap this weekend as well as a number of other events going on at the Old Market. All you have to do is take one book along that you would like to swap with somebody and find a new book you want to take home yourself. I always think there’s something special about reading a book somebody else has read, especially if they want to share their love of the book with you.

The Big Big Tea Party: Everyone loves tea, and there is nothing more fun than a tea party especially when you are also supporting something worthwhile. Black History Month is putting on this tea party as a celebration of the month past, and will have a mixture of cultural celebrations. There will be exhibitions, workshops, films, craft stalls and food. It will be a great opportunity for you and your children to learn about different cultures all whilst having a tea party- sounds perfect!
