Friday – The Maydays present: Tonight’s Top Story & guest improv Superstars @Komedia Studio Bar
Our critically acclaimed show is inspired by newspaper articles cut out by the audience just minutes before curtain time. This is improv without tricks, gimmicks or games, just a live comedic exploration, through scenes and songs, of the secret heart of your city. It is the world only hinted at by your local paper, but finally revealed by the comedic x-ray vision of The Maydays. “…speed of thought and action, the ability to take on character and accent and the knack of making it all funny is a special gift, one The Maydays have in bucketfuls.” ***** The Argus

Friday – Richard Durrant – Candlelit Christmas Concert @Ropetackle Arts Centre
This Ropetackle Christmas tradition continues with more musical midwinter charm from the UK’s favourite barefoot, stand-up guitarist – a world class virtuoso, compelling storyteller and genial host.
Renaissance, Christian, pagan and folk music, plus Durrant’s own tunes, make these concerts a much loved part of Christmas for audiences throughout the UK, including Ropetackle. Amongst the wintry solos Richard is joined by his very special guests:
Amy Kakoura: a singer with Greek/Irish roots and an indescribably stunning voice.
Nick Pynn: composer, multi-instrumentalist and one of Britain’s greatest folk fiddlers.
To satisfy demand, this year Richard and guests are playing three Christmas shows (two further shows on Saturday 17th December).

SANTACORP
Check the list. Check it twice.
SantaCorp is coming to town.
HO. HO. HO.
Santacorp is an irreverent and satirical take on festive holiday-mania, coupled with a scathing take-down of corporate culture. In this immersive game, players take the part of minimum-wage elves in the bureaucratic nightmare that is Santa’s Grotto, battling red tape and the toxic aspirations of the North Pole’s profit-obsessed Senior Board to make sure that children get toys.
In Santacorp, teams of players must work together, puzzling over the details of the Naughty and Nice Dossiers to make sure that the presents are wrapped, addressed to the right children, and delivered on time. All the while Firecat Masquerade’s crew, playing their red-and-white-clad supervisors, do their utmost to distract them from the task with the introduction of ever more byzantine regulations, branding missions, and team bonding exercises.
Admission: £8. For teams of 3-5. Bring your own or join in with people on the day.
Part of ‘Eleven Tales of Intrigue’ : Every month throughout 2016, Firecat Masquerade brings you a different tale of intrigue, treachery, investigation and negotiation. Hosted by the Dukebox Theatre, these live social games are lightweight, suitable for ages 18+ and last 2-3 hours. You don’t need to bring anything except a sense of fun – everything you need to play will be given to you on the night.
We heartily encourage you to bring your friends, make new ones, build teams, build rivalries & Play.
