Theatre & Arts

Matilda Jr runs across the whole weekend at the Walkhouse Gielgud Academy — Roald Dahl’s much-loved musical brought to life by local young performers. A great option for families.

Pack of Lies is on at Theatre Royal Brighton through the weekend — a gripping Cold War thriller about suburban secrets and surveillance. One of the stronger drama offerings in town right now.

Vivaldi’s Four Seasons by Candlelight at Theatre Royal Brighton (Fri–Sun) — a beautiful candlelit chamber concert, ideal if you want something relaxed and atmospheric.

Music

Patrick Wolf plays on Saturday — the alt-pop and folk-influenced London singer-songwriter brings his distinctive sound to Brighton. Worth catching if you know his work.

An Hour of Seconds on Friday and Saturday — an evening of classical music, intimate and well-curated.

The Curst Sons + Country Ties at The Prince Albert on Saturday night — a good shout for live indie and alternative music in one of Brighton’s best small venues.

Kofi Stone + Deema at Chalk on Sunday evening — rising hip-hop and spoken word talent, a solid Sunday night out.

Comedy

An Evening with Joe Thomas (The Inbetweeners) on Saturday — the actor and comedian talks about the show and more. Expect a warm, funny night.

The Secret Comedy Club Open Mic on Friday at its usual spot — Brighton’s longest-running new-material night. Always unpredictable, always worth it.

Film & Culture

Oska Bright Film Festival kicks off this weekend (28 March–2 April) — the world’s leading film festival made by and starring people with learning disabilities. Free to attend, genuinely moving and thought-provoking.

For Families

Brighton Marina Giant Car Boot Sale on Sunday — always a good rummage, free to browse.

One Garden Brighton has workshops running across the weekend from Saturday — a lovely escape into the walled garden in Stanmer Park.

Drag Bingo with Miss Demeanour on Saturday — exactly what it sounds like, and always a brilliant night.
