YES – An Exhibition byLois O’Hara @The Square, 47 New England Street // Friday 29, 1900 – 2200: Lois O’Hara hosts her very first solo art exhibition. ‘YES’ is an exhibition that explores the powerful mind and what positive thinking can achieve. The exhibition will give everyone a moment of joy in today’s unsettling world of violence, disruption and despair. Lois O’Hara is an abstract, visual artist from Brighton. Her practice explores printmaking and painting in various forms. She uses a vibrant and exciting range of colours and she will be displaying some exclusive and limited edition works. The V.I.B (Very Independent Brighton) Food Tour // Friday 29 – Saturday 30: Brighton Food Tours’ signature food tour – The V.I.B (Very Independent Brighton) Tour – is a celebration of independent Brighton – packed with the eclectic sights and tastes from the unique makers to the unsung heroes of Brighton’s indy food & drink scene. Over the course of approx. 3 hours you’ll get a chocolate-box selection of the best foodie hotspots that quirky, independent Brighton has to offer. The event is flexible, with curation reacting to weather and season, so if you’re feeling wet and cold this morning then pop down and warm yourself with something scrumptious. Meeting point is in central Brighton in front of the Unitarian Church on New Road, and the tour ends by the seafront.
A King’s Appetite @Brighton Museum & Art Gallery, Royal Pavilion Gardens // Saturday 30 – Nov: A King’s Appetite is a new sculptural installation that takes inspiration from Royal Pavilion & Museum Collections including caricatures by James Gillray and George Cruikshank satirising aspects of the life of the Prince Regent, and imagery found in the Willett Collection of pottery and porcelain. Ford’s work is consistently curious about the human condition and wider social and political issues, often mixing the bitter sweet with wit. This new work explores socio-political notions of excess, greed and indulgence and the Imperialist attitudes that they reflect. The resulting imagery looks at fundamental contemporary issues relating to Excess, the theme of this year’s HOUSE Biennial, and its subsequent inequalities, both of the Regency period and of society today. pain[byte] @ The Old Market // Sunday 1 Oct, 1745: A spectacular live performance and VR experience that conveys what it means to have chronic pain, and the benefits of technology in pain management. The choreographer and producer of [pain]byte both suffer from chronic pain and have different spinal implants. Using their experience and chronic pain data, they emotionally convey what it means to live with pain, how pain travels through the body, and the benefits of technology like biomedical implants, through biometric data, data visualisations and VR headsets. Artist and researcher Clare Plumley will talk about her own pain and an overview of how pain works before the main performance and VR experience. Winner of Google RISE award.

The fair will host attractions for all including live music, singing and dancing. The event has been specifically created to cater for anyone aged 50+ but organisers insist that the event is open to people of all ages. Featuring the triumphant return of Herbie Flowers and the All Stars at 1pm, alongside performances from Sing For Better Health, Silver Sounds Samba Band, and Silver Strings, the event is sure to provide ample entertainment for your Sunday afternoon.
