The world’s biggest learning disability film festival launches tonight in Brighton at the The Old Market.
The Oska Bright Film Festival is known as the most inclusive film festival ever. Tonight’s launch includes an appearance by disabled artist and filmmaker, Eleana Re, and takes a look at the wide ranging identities of learning disabled people.
In tonight’s programme, there will be two screenings exploring the wide ranging identities of learning disabled people:Â It Me and Queer Freedom. The festival gives a platform to filmmakers from every part of the community including a portrait of Roberta Cowell, the prolific trans filmmaker.

The film festival is now in its 16th year and features filmmakers from around the world. The festival gives a voice to first time filmmakers too, including autistic filmmaker Chris Butler. Chris’ short film “Moaning, Crying and Barking” gives a frank and funny viewpoint on the disturbing nature of noise as heard by someone with autism.
The festival runs from tonight until Saturday 26th October at The Old Market, Brighton.
