Local businesses have until the 22nd of April to bid for the apprenticeship levy funds.
The council allocates these funds twice a year, based on the bids they receive.
Thanks to new government rules, councils can transfer their apprenticeship levy funds to other organisations, which in return support local employers who can then train new apprentices and develop existing employees.
To be eligible for the funding, employers need to prove they actively support the aims of Brighton and Hove’s City Employment and Skills Plan.
They will also need to fall into one of these categories to be eligible:
- Businesses and other organisations;
- The voluntary, community and social enterprise (VSCE) sector;
- Schools in the city that do not pay into the council’s apprenticeship levy.
The apprenticeship levy is already giving employers, including the council, a real opportunity to invest in high-quality training. We’re growing and developing our existing workforce and recruiting amazing apprentices that contribute to the skilled workforce we need to thrive and succeed.
