Instagram-worthy is a new term but has quickly become a highly regarded compliment and the most Instagram-worthy place in the UK outside of London? It’s only our beloved Brighton Pier. According to reports, Brighton Pier beat Stonehenge, Old Trafford and Wimbledon to the trophy of the most popular place for Instagrammers outside of London. People took twice as many photos were taken at the pier compared to the University of Oxford, which was seventh on the list.
Brighton pier has six million visitors a year and 1,200 portions of fish and chips are served on a busy day (got to love an obscure fact). Reading Festival and Dismaland also ranked highly on the list, despite Dismaland being a temporary art project and Reading Festival running only for the weekend. A spokesman for Brighton Pier told BBC News that “We get some really clear skies, which help create the perfect backdrop for amateur and professional photographers. It’s an iconic place in British history, even if it hasn’t been around as long as Stonehenge”. Have a look at some great shots of Brighton Pier below.
