More than 30 youth groups and organisations across Brighton & Hove are continuing to offer services to support young people through the coronavirus crisis.
A directory of organisations who have adapted their normal youth services in light of social distancing guidance is now available on the council’s website at: https://new.brighton-hove.gov.uk/directory-youth-services.
Charities and community groups like Allsorts Youth Project, Amaze and the council’s own services for young people are offering support in various forms, such as 1-2-1 phone call check ins, remote counselling and video youth club sessions on Zoom.
Councillor John Allcock, chair of the Council’s Children, Young People and Skills Committee, said:
Because of coronavirus and the restrictions in place, many young people in the city are feeling the same as many adults in our community at this time – anxious, vulnerable, bored and in some cases lonely.
I want them and their families to know that support is still available for them via phone, email, text and through virtual options such as Skype and Zoom.
I’m grateful to all the organisations in our online directory who have re-thought and quickly reorganised the way they can continue to support young people through this very difficult time.
