Emmaus Brighton & Hove is hosting its annual Spring Fair at its historic site in Portslade Village on Saturday 23rd March. Every year, the homelessness charity holds this event as well as their summer and Christmas fairs.

The Spring Fair is running 10am – 4:30pm and is free to attend. Visitors can expect a day of music, entertainment, bargains, cakes and food in the onsite Café, which will be open throughout the day.

Emmaus Brighton & Hove is host to 56 residents, known as companions, with lived experience of homelessness who are offered accommodation, support and meaningful work opportunities by the charity.

Two of the Emmaus Brighton & Hove companions, Graeme and Liam, host guided tours of the historic Portslade Village site, a former convent. They will be taking two tour groups on the day of the Spring Fair at 11am and 2pm. You can book a tour for free by emailing [email protected]

There will also be live music from acts such as The Tone Rangers and Alfonso The Magnificent to delight and entertain, plus more to be announced.

Emmaus Brighton & Hove CEO, Karen Chapman said: “Our spring fair is a great day in the calendar. Once the daffodils start to come through the community becomes such a delightful setting. We can’t wait to welcome lots of visitors for the day, who can enjoy shopping in our much-loved charity superstore where they can pick up quality secondhand and vintage goods, as well as the range of stalls and activities taking place.”

Since 1997 Emmaus Brighton & Hove has offered people who have experienced homelessness a home for as long as they need it, as well as meaningful work in its social enterprises. The opportunity to become part of a community and contribute to it plays an important role in restoring self-esteem and helping people to find a way to overcome homelessness in the long term.
