Fields in Trust, an independent charity dedicated to preserving parks and green spaces for all to enjoy, is offering virtual park tours across the UK.
A statement from their website explains that this is, of course, in direct response to the coronavirus lockdown:
During these times we must all change how we use and enjoy our local green spaces. As we are more limited in our ability to visit local green spaces, this spring Fields in Trust are Bringing Parks to You!
We’ll be taking you on a virtual tour around the UK discovering beautiful parks and green spaces which are much loved and valued by their communities along the way.
The tour locations are chosen by online voters, so everyone can have their say about where they’d like to see next. There have already been tours of parks and green spaces in Blackpool, Antrim, and Dunfermline. The focus is currently on exploring a park in the town of Merthyr Tydfil, Wales.
The upcoming tours will be of beautiful spaces in Bristol, Wrexham, and Bury. The locations following these are still undecided and up to voters, so click here to have your say!
The Fields in Trust Instagram account is adding to this by posting about a park a day, making sure everyone gets their daily dose of green spaces one way or another.
Not everyone has the luxury of a garden or nearby park so this is a great way to reconnect with nature virtually, without breaking any social distancing rules.
