Boxing legend Chris Eubank Jr beat his Australian rival Renold Quinlan last night to take the IBO world super-middleweight title at the Kensington Olympia in London. Born in Hove, 27-year-old Chris is a former Brighton College pupil who definitely did his city proud last night (January 4). Sussex local Katie Price took to Twitter to congratulate Chris, tweeting “Wooo Brighton boy does it”.
Chris Junior’ victory means he and his father Chris Eubank Sr are possibly the first father-son duo who are both world boxing champions. Hardly surprising: Chris has won 24 of his 25 fights, ending 19 of his wins in a knockout. His father, now 50, took middleweight and super-middleweight titles during his 13-year career.

3,ooo spectators watched last night as Chris Junior, 27, started off slowly before giving his rival a true battering, drawing blood in the third. Although Quinlan proved a worthy opponent, Eubank was on top form throughout.
Speaking to BBC Sport, Chris Junior said: “Now I am a world champion, I have my ticket to challenge the rest of the super middleweights.”
