Get ready to put your skates on! The highly anticipated Royal Pavilion Ice Rink is set to open at 10AM on the 2nd November, 2019.

The ice-rink will open from 10AM-10:15PM every day and will be open until the 19th January, 2020. Sessions must be booked in advance and all skaters must arrive 20 minutes before their chosen session.

Pleas note, the ice rink will be closed for the first 2 sessions of the day on Remembrance Sunday (10th November). The first session available on 10/11/19 will be the 12.30pm session.

The Skate-a-thon

If you’re keen to get your skating shoes on before the rink is open to the public, Laine are holding a skate-a-thon to raise funds for Sussex Wildlife Trust on Friday 1st November, during half-term.

All abilities, from beginners to advanced, are welcome. Individuals or relay teams of up to ten skaters can sign up for either the 5,000-metre mini skate-a-thon or the 15,000-metre full skate-a-thon. Each skate-athon is equivalent to 50 circuits of the rink and 150 circuits of the rink respectively.

Funds raised will support Sussex Wildlife Trust’s ‘Sussex Flow’ project, to help plant thousands of trees in and around Sussex near floodplains, slowing the flow of water and reducing the chance of flooding in communities downstream.

In doing so they are creating new habitats in Sussex, helping wildlife like dragonflies and bats and building resilience to climate change.

Skate-a-thon participants must be aged 8 or above, and are required to commit to raising a minimum of £100 and to pay a £10 registration fee, all of which will go to Sussex Wildlife Trust.

Special prizes will be on offer for the individual who achieves most circuits, the team achieving most circuits and best costumes on the day.
