This week for Charity Tuesday we are featuring a very important charity called Rockinghorse. Rockinghorse was set up in 1967 by Dr Trevor Mann who recognised there was a real need for additional resources to improve healthcare services for sick children and babies.
Rockinghorse are the official fundraising arm of the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital where they are raising money for life-saving and cutting-edge medical equipment. They also support the Trevor Mann Baby Unit based at Royal Sussex County Hospital and its sister site, the Special Care Baby Unit at the Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath. Rockinghorse work with these units to make services accessible for the babies, children and teenagers who need them. 45,000 young patients are treated at the Royal Alexandra Hospital every year, 600 babies are treated at the Trevor Mann Baby Unit and 250 babies are treated at the Special Care Unit so the work that Rockinghorse have done is invaluable.
The charity does so much to raise money for the incredible work they do, including cheese and wine nights, marathons, skydives and the Dragon Boat Festival. There are loads of ways you can get help Rockinghorse from volunteering to taking part in their lotto draw. You can support Rockinghorse when you shop online by signing up to Give As You Live. The Give As You Live tool allows you to shop online from your favourite retailers and raise money for Rockinghorse at the same time.

You can also buy wristbands and jewellery directly from Rockinghorse. You can also volunteer by donating baked goods for their cake sale, which takes place on the second Friday of every month. You can also help with the Brighton marathons by supporting the runners. There are also multiple fundraising opportunities so you can raise money at work, at school or in the community.
