This week for Charity Tuesday we are featuring a very important charity called Rockinghorse. Rockinghorse was set up in 1967 by Dr Trevor Mann who recognised there was a real need for additional resources to improve healthcare services for sick children and babies.

Representatives from Sussex County Cricket Club were on hand to present the cheque at The Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital in Brighton (left to right): Steve Magoffin (SCCC), Will Hurl (Sussex Cricket in the Community), Ryan Heal (chief executive, Rockinghorse), Tony Cottey (business relationship manager, SCCC), Mark Judges (sales manager, SCCC), Analiese Doctrove (head of fundraising, Rockinghorse) image from Brighton and Hove independent

Rockinghorse are the official fundraising arm of the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital where they are raising money for life-saving and cutting-edge medical equipment. They also support the Trevor Mann Baby Unit based at Royal Sussex County Hospital and its sister site, the Special Care Baby Unit at the Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath. Rockinghorse work with these units to make services accessible for the babies, children and teenagers who need them. 45,000 young patients are treated at the Royal Alexandra Hospital every year, 600 babies are treated at the Trevor Mann Baby Unit and 250 babies are treated at the Special Care Unit so the work that Rockinghorse have done is invaluable.
