Another week, another festival announcement and this one is even bigger than the last. The line-up for this year’s Wild Life Festival have been announced and it is pretty massive. Of course, Rudimental and Disclosure are headlining again, considering they curated the festival but joining them are Skepta, Ice Cube, James Bay and Busta Rhymes, quite the line-up don’t you think?
The festival promises to showcase an incredible line up of dance, indie, pop and hip-hop as well as some up and coming talent and DJs. Earth, Wind & Fire ft Al McKay are expected to deliver a jazz and funk infused set while Skepta and Stormzy will be representing the grime genre. Quite the diverse line-up. There will also be names that are set to become massive in the coming years such as Jack Garratt, as well as Rat Boy and Bastille. Of course, we have Grammy nominated Brighton singer-songwriter James Bay performing at the festival, representing all things great about our incredible music scene.
Wild Life Festival is only in its second year, but last year’s debut festival was an enormous success. The festival won Best New Festival at the UK Festival Awards in 2015, which is completely understandable considering the tickets sold out in 72 hours. The festival is held at Brighton City Airport and will be held on 11th and 12th of June this year. However, the festivals future was in the balance when the Shoreham Society lodge a noise complaint, most likely due to the bass levels coming from the festival. In October the Adur District Council gave them the go-ahead and the festival organisers promise to address the bass levels of the festival. Councillor Emma Evans, chairman of the panel, said she looked forward to “welcoming the Wild Life Festival back to Adur in 2016”. A spokesman for Wild Life said “under the tutelage of top-tier acts and curators Disclosure and Rudimental, the festival will be flying in many of music’s leading lights when it lands in its hype-worthy hanger. Festival fans will not find another seaside escape packing this much musical punch this Summer, with Wild Life’s two curating champions backed up by an uncompromising cast of current and classic talent”. Tickets go on sale at 9am Thursday and if last year is anything to go by, you’ll want to get in quick.
