When arriving on the festival grounds at 2 pm on Friday afternoon, there already were huge queues of festival-goers waiting to see some of their favourite artists perform on one of the six Wild Life stages! Over 50,000 visited the event over the weekend.

Featuring great DJ’s, some of the best UK grime and pop artists as well as many big international musicians, festival fans definitely got spoilt over the weekend. The only problem having so many incredible artists in one place was to decide which stage to head to!

On Friday, the Wild Life Stage sure was an amazing place to be with big names following one another all afternoon long. Entering the stage at around 4 pm, English rapper Giggs was the first act to see the ground in front of the main stage packed with people, and when Zara Larsson followed him on stage, it didn’t even take her two minutes to have the crowds cheering and singing back as she was performing a whole list of well-known tracks such as “Never Forget You” or “Lush Life”.

How lucky she was immediately followed by no other than Clean Bandit so that she could pop back onto the stage for a surprise performance of their common number one single “Symphony” which had the crowds go crazy within seconds! However, she was by far not the only one who joined the British electronic music group during their incredible performance!

And there was more to come! When legend Chaka Khan made an appearance on stage, her fans found themselves in heaven and more than once you could hear someone scream “Oh my god, that’s Chaka Khan!” With her incredible voice, the American singer-songwriter had old and young alike sing back her most famous songs and it wasn’t until long after she had left the stage that the applause started to ease off.

There was no other than George Ezra to take her place and make the crowds push forward into the area in front of the stage! If it was already packed in there before, it was nothing compared to when he got on stage. Singing along to every old and new song he played, the masses were desperately waiting for that one song starting with a “B” and as the singer finally played the first chords of “Budapest”, there could hardly have been a greater end to this incredible act!

But of course, the best was yet to come! With the clear statement “There’s No Place I’d Rather Be”, the first headliner of the day, Jess Glynne put on an amazing show with everything you could wish for. Saying that festivals were all about fun and happiness, the singer used a very emotional moment of her performance to remind her audience of how important it was to “stick together in these days”, a message that didn’t fail to leave its impression on the crowd heading towards the WHP stage to see the next and last big headliner for the day, Fatboy Slim.

And meanwhile at other places than the main stage area? A non-stop flow of amazing DJ’s had people get hot and sweaty at Brasilian carnival inspired party tent Elrow all weekend long. Recovering from all the dancing and partying, festival-goers were lying down all over the festival ground to enjoy the sun or went for a ride on one of the numerous fun fair attractions. Or they were queuing to get into the very popular but secluded Koppaberg area which hosted a number of great DJ sets on Friday and Saturday.

Saturday afternoon saw the break-out of the festival’s very own wild beasts taking over the lawns. However, most festival-goers only shot them a quick look as they were literally running towards the Wild Life Stage not to miss a single minute of Brighton’s very own Rag’n’Bone Man or heading towards Saturday’s Sound Of The Near Future Stage, featuring some of the UK’s most exciting emerging artists, including Mura Masa. When the DJ and songwriter got on stage, the festival tent was packed until every single corner.

Damian Marley, son of legendary Bob Marley, created a Jamaican raggae atmosphere on the main stage before leaving it up to grime acts and final headliners Stormzy and Dizzee Rascal to make the crowds bounce like crazy!

When the lights finally went out at the main stage, the party was still at a full blast in the two festival tents and at the WHP stage where Armand Van Helden played a legendary back to back with Disclosure, closing the 2017 Wild Life festival.
