Everyone has got Star Wars fever, including high end fashion designers. Eleven designers have come together to create a series of ready-to-wear looks under the #Force4Fashion label. The designs were unveiled last night and will appear in all of the Bloomingdale’s 57th Street windows before being auctioned off on to benefit the Child Mind Institute.

Designed by iconic brands such as Diane von Furstenberg, Billy Reid and Rag & Bone, each ensemble was custom-created to reflect the spirit and style of a character from the upcoming film, Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Some of the most recognisable looks come from Opening Ceremony and Ovaida & Sons, who reimaged the Stormtrooper armour, and Todd Snyder and Billy Reid who both drew inspiration from Chewbacca. The collaboration also introduces the new characters, Rey, Kylo Ren and Finn inspire a fast number of looks. Marcus Wainwright and David Neville from Rag & Bone admit that they’ve been fans of the sci-fi franchise since childhood “Star Wars IV: A New Hope has been my favourite film since I was a child. I’m still a huge fan today, as are my three young children” Wainwright said in a release. Wainwright and Neville were the only team asked to create both a men’s and women’s look for the collaboration. Neville said “Rey is a classic Rag & Bone girl. She’s beautiful and feminine with an urban, tomboy edge. That made it easy to translate her look from film costume into fashion. For Kylo Ren, we envisioned what he would wear walking the streets of the Meatpacking District”.

Other items include a sweeping gown by Giles, with inspiration from Gwendoline Christie’s character, Captain Phasma, whilst BB-8 was turned into some easy going separates. The designers were just some of the A-listers attending the red carpet event for the unveiling of the charity collection, and they were joined by Lupita Nyong’o who plays Maz Kanata, as well as Daisy Ridley and John Boyega who also star in the film as Rey and Finn respectively. Disney and Bloomingdale’s are partnering for the fundraising initiative, but unfortunately there are no confirmed plans to recreate the pieces for sale.
