St. Patrick’s day was yesterday (Thur 17th March) – and unless you were in Ireland, where it’s a public holiday, you were probably at work.
But praise the drinking gods – the famed St. Patrick’s street party will be in Brighton this weekend.
Stumbling on in a blootered stupor for over two decades in Brighton, the street party is renowned all over the city for its day of inebriated merriment, where the amber nectar will be running from the taps all day for jolly residents.
The giggle-water party will begin on Saturday 19th on Boyce’s Street at the Fiddler’s Elbow. It all kicks off at 2pm and goes on until midnight.
There’ll be a celebration of all things Irish: including dancing, stews, live music and of course, waterfalls of Guinness.
They’ll also be free stuff, face painting, raffles, and rugby on the big screen.

If you head down to the Pavilion tonight (Friday 18th) you have the chance of spending the evening with the words and music of the mezzo-soprano Pippa Dames-Longworth, with Nicholas Bosworth at the piano. There’ll be pieces by Handel, Fauré, Bizet, Gilbert and Sullivan, Ivor Novello, Joyce Grenfell and Rudyard Kipling.
Doors open at 7.30pm and the performance starts at 8pm. Ticket also includes a glass of white wine/soft drink during the interval.

This will be the final chance to catch the The New Immortals exhibition at the Phoenix gallery, which runs until the 20th of March. The show explores, from the points of view of several artists, the search for Immortality in an age of medical marvels and technological innovation. And admission is free, which is nice.
