All Weekend
Starting with all-weekend events there are two big vegan fests hitting the coast.
The Cowley Club
Local anarchist society and all-round lovely venue, The Cowley Club, is hosting a three day vegan beer and cider festival. Back by popular demand after the success of last year, they’re offering everything a beer lover could want. Vegan beer is no different in taste or colour, it is instead a change in the processing of the much-loved drink. They will be offering ale, stouts, lagers and ciders as well as non-alcoholic fermented drinks such as kombucha and kefir. They’ll be cooking up some amazing and nutritious plant-based food as well as some devilishly delicious cakes. Get down there early to grab one of their insanely good ‘pork’ pies which they quite literally could not make enough of last year!
VegFest UK
Second up on the all weekend vegan fun is the return of VegFest UK to Brighton Centre. This mammoth festival is one of the biggest of it’s kind and will almost certainly draw punters from far and wide. There will be a whole range of talks, cooking demos, meet-and-greets, mature vegan and veggie speed dating and 100’s of stallers, all showing the best of the UK vegan world right now. Additionally there will be an art exhibition, live music and the ‘Vegan Comedy Festival’. If you already vegan or if you’re interested in the lifestyle this event is the one for you! This lovely class runs every Friday from Studio iO right in the centre of Brighton. No need to put any special time aside as this 13:00 class fits nicely into a lunch hour. Enter the Dragons @ The Old Market
Winner of ‘The Best of Brighton Fringe 2017’ this multi-award winning show returns to Brighton for a funny, frank and fearless show about the pressues facing women as they age. Broadbay Baby’s 5 star review described the show being able to “marry hilarity and sincerity with such remarkable precision, it had the audience in both fits of laughter and heartfelt tears”. Don’t miss the chance to see this play which unashamedly subverts the audiences ideas about beauty, sex and feminism. Enter the Dragons takes the archetypal ‘hero’s quest’ and reframes it for the aging woman in the modern world. A true gem of a show, this is one to see. It’s ‘business time baby’ at Komedia this Friday night. Throw on your dancing shoes and check out this fun-themed club night going from 11pm to the early hours of the morning. They’ll be playing all the Flight of the Conchords bangers as well as a whole heap of New Zealand treasures. Expect ‘Alvie the Racist Dragon’ smoothly mixed into Daft Punk and then straight into Simon and Garfunkel. An Introduction to the Royal Pavilion
This is a wonderful opportunity to be transported back in time with one of the Pavilion’s expert guides. For just Ā£4.90 more than the admission fee, this tour around the pavilion offers a unique history lesson into King George IV’s huge banquets, balls and concerts and it provides an opportunity to learn more on the architecture and decorative interiors both inside and out. These tours have run since early February and this is the last one in the series so it’s your final chance to learn about some of the rich and steeped history of the city!

Hove (actually) Tour…Brunswick and Bullrings
Meeting at the Floral Clock in central Hove on Saturday morning, this a truly unique chance to get an insight into the history the quieter side of town. The tour will be filled with lots of ‘wow! no way!’ moments as your guide will tell tales of bull fighting, ancient Druid burial grounds, beach battles with smugglers and much much more. It’s only Ā£5 and is a chance to scrape up on your knowledge of our much-loved city. The Treason Show on Brighton Palace Pier
You have two chances this weekend to catch this “savagely funny-fantastically silly” satirical legend of a show on Brighton Palace Pier. Now it’s 18th year, the show written by a team of over 40 writers has created a cult following within Brighton’s community and this promises to be one of the best yet. Tight-lipped about their content the only sneak-peeks available are that of it’s poster emblazoned with some of the most problematic leaders in politics today. Book tickets here.
The Pipeline turn one!
The local punks pub, The Pipeline, turns one this Saturday and to celebrate they’re hosting their very own birthday party. The anniversary gig features some of Brighton’s punks in the form of Rotten Foxes, Bandits and Charlie Harper. Expect live music, special deals and extra-special giveaways.

Art Junky Indoor Market @ Phoenix Brighton
Art Junky comes back this march with their fantastic indoor market. Phoenix is arguably the leading gallery in Brighton at the moment and their excellent exhibition space will be taken over by unique and affordable art, crafts, fashion, jewellery, homeware, vintage, bric-a-brac, music and much more! The Art Junky cafe will also be serving up some tasty treats. Everyone who attends will also be invited to add their own art to the ‘corridor takeover’ as well as other fun and creative activities.

Rae Morris @ Concorde 2
After the release of her brand-new album ‘Someone Out There Now’ Rae Morris will grace Concorde 2’s stage for the perfect Sunday evening gig. She scored a deal with Atlantic when she was only 18 and her strong vocals and piano-led songs have long stood at the forefront of British folk-pop. This sophomore album has been in the works since 2015 and the opportunity to see her live on stage is a very good opportunity indeed.

Lucy Bundy is Fake Bush @ The BrunswickĀ
Fake Bush takes to the tiny stage this weekend at The Brunswick. Go down to enjoy some classic Kate Bush songs with a very special twist. With ‘a sumptuous array of tutus, catsuits and sparkly leg warmers Fake Bush has been celebrating and singing the original legends songs for longer than she cares to remember. Her much-loved show has taken her all over the country to the likes of Glastonbury, Bestival, Big Chill and much more. She’s a multi-award winning and nominated performer with the ‘National Soundalike’ award tucked neatly under her belt as well as multiple nominations at Brighton Festival. Tickets are available here.

Pub Quiz @ The Bear Inn
Sunday night is quiz night all over Brighton and this weekend is no exception. After tracking down all the quizzes this was the only one that offers *free* pizza! It’s only Ā£1 per person and with cheap pints and and a Jukebox Bingo this will please even the most hungover of your mates on a Sunday night. It starts at 7:30 so brush up on your trivia and we’ll see you down there!
