An Irish Christmas concert is currently embarking on its biggest tour yet, with the group making a stop at Brighton last week. The concert is called A Fairytale for Christmas, and is going to be played at 50 venues across the UK. The tour has sold out four times so far, and is due to end on the 22nd of December. The performance is going to channel the spirit of St. Patrick’s Day with all the love and cheer associated with Christmas Day.

Irish Entertainment is Popular in the UK

Irish Entertainment is significantly popular in the UK, and there are a wave of new artists achieving breakthrough success. As time goes on, more and more Irish bands are embracing their identity as well. Bands like Fontaines D.C., The Murder Capital, and even Sprints are all experiencing UK success.

Music isn’t the only vertical seeing a rise in Irish themes, either. Games are also focusing more on Ireland as a whole. Hibernia is a real-time strategy game based on ancient Ireland. Clive Barker’s Undying is also set in 1923 Ireland, with a focus on supernatural horror. In iGaming, other Irish-themed games include Rainbow Riches slots. This game features rolling green hills that are synonymous with Ireland, pots of gold, and leprechauns, the key aspects of Irish folklore.

With Irish entertainment being so popular in the UK, it’s no surprise that we are seeing Irish Christmas concerts sell out within days. The upcoming A Fairytale for Christmas concert has confirmed that they are going to be playing classics like I Wish It Could Be Christmas Every Day and Step Into Christmas. You can also expect to hear O Holy Night, alongside traditional Irish folk tunes. Some of the ones that have been confirmed include Dirty Old Town and The Irish Rover.

The Show was a Monumental Success in 2024

Last year, the show experienced a tremendous amount of success. In 2024, 200,000 tickets were sold in five countries, with the concert performing 133 different shows. This year, we are seeing it being bigger and better than ever, with some locations having simultaneous performances to try and keep up with demand.

Many people love the show because it not only channels the spirit of Christmas, but it also helps to showcase Irish heritage. As the show goes on, organisers of the event have said that they are taking extra steps to ensure that every show is intimate while embracing the same spectacular show the concert is known for. There’s an expanded ensemble, and there is also going to be enhanced staging and choreography.

With plenty of Celtic charm, many people buy tickets immediately when they go on sale, with some going as far as to attend year after year. Even though the Brighton show has passed, it was a monumental success and sold out in no time at all, which could mean it is set to return once again next year. For those who still want to attend the run of shows, there are numerous other dates with tickets still available, but you’ll need to be fast.
