For the first time, a Brighton-based choir for people who’ve experienced homelessness and marginalisation will perform at Brighton Dome Concert Hall this Christmas.

The Choir with No Name Brighton (CWNN) presents The Big Christmas Singalong! on Thursday 13 December. The evening is sure to be filled with all the musical Christmas classics,  from ‘White Christmas’ to ‘I Wish it Could Be Christmas Everyday’ and every festive favourite in between. The CWNN are joined by the charity’s London based choir, as well as very special guest performances from Brighton Gay Men’s Chorus

Brighton Gay Men’s Chorus support CWNN for the Big Christmas Singalong!

“Each rehearsal is followed by a hot meal together cooked by a team of volunteers”

Since opening its Brighton branch in August, the choir is already 40 members strong and growing, rehearsing every Monday to ensure each performance is pitch perfect. The charity, which has been running choirs across the country has been tackling homelessness and marginalisation for ten years.

The choir provides members, who are largely from the homeless and recovery community, the opportunity to engage with friends in a safe space free from all judgement.

CWNN say they provide a creative outlet for anyone who requires help, “whether they have been homeless, have a mental health problem or are otherwise struggling, we give them a safe, positive and supportive environment in which to sing away their worries, have fun and flourish as individuals”.

As well as being provided a free hot meal after every rehearsal, members learn valuable new skills and grow in confidence through the power of singing together.

The Choir with No Name HQ said:

“Our choirs provide a platform for members to sing their hearts out among good friends – a hugely effective way of building confidence and general wellbeing, enabling members to re-establish their place in the world and move away from homelessness long term.

“Our Big Christmas Singalong! is the highlight of the year for our members, giving them a positive Christmas experience at a time of year that can be extremely tough for people who are homeless and isolated.

We are thrilled to be back here again for the third year running, and look forward to giving the Brighton crowd a festive night to remember!”

Tickets are available via www.brightondome.org & 01273 709709

Proceeds and donations from the night will support The Choir with No Name and Brighton Housing Trust
