What’s the best thing about May apart from Brighton Festival and Brighton Fringe? Of course, the two bank holiday weekends we get! Long weekend number two is just around the corner and as always, there is heaps to do in and around Brighton! Here is where to head this weekend!

Friday – Gal Pals Spring Fling Party @ Komedia

Beyonce, Grimes, Le Tigre, Robyn, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Janelle Monae, Christina Aguilera, Rihanna… tonight it’s gonna be all about girls at Komedia. Run by girls, for girls, this queer dance party for LGBTQ+ folks and their friends welcomes people from all genders.

Starts tonight at 11 am. Komedia, 44-47 Gardner St, Brighton. Entry is £4 (£5 after 12 am).

Friday till Monday – Silent Disco Walking Tours @ Brighton Fringe

Dance your way through the city with Guru Dudu while listening to your favorite tunes from the 70s, 80s, 90s and 2000s. Give those other people in the street something to look at while you are letting out your most crazy dance moves in a spontaneous flash mob.

Tours run all the way through till Monday and start at the Fringe box office in New Road. For times and tickets, check here.

Saturday – Kemptown Community Spring Fair @ St. Mary’s Church

Delicious fresh bread, cheeses, charcuterie, vegan wraps… you surely won’t starve walking around Kemptown this Saturday. Other than food and drink, you will find a variety of arts and craft works at this community spring fair.

Saturday from 10:30 am to 4 pm. St. Mary’s Chruch, 61 St James’s Street, Brighton.

Saturday – Circus of Horror @ Preston Park

Gerry Cottle’s WOW Circus is currently performing at Preston Park. But other than the usual family friendly circus shows with artists, elephants & co, they are hosting The Circus of Horrors. Celebrating its 21st anniversary, the company is currently touring through the UK with its latest show “The Neverending Nightmare”.

The show will start on Saturday at 9 pm. Preston Park, Brighton. Tickets are on sale here.

Saturday – Nightshift Party @ Tempest Inn

It’s been three years since The Tempest Inn hosted its first tropical Nightshift party. How lucky the next one falls on this bank holiday weekend because it’s gonna be big! So are you ready for a free twelve-hour party?

Saturday till Monday – Dive into virtual reality @ North Laine Brewhouse!

How about having a different pub experience? Put on your glasses and headsets and enter a new world! From Friday all the way through to Monday, the UK’s highly popular Virtual Reality event is coming to North Laine Brewhouse with a range of games like fighting back waves of zombies when all you are equipped with is a torch and a pistol!

The VR Concept will run from today till Monday. Multiple starting times throughout each day. North Laine Brewhouse, 27 Gloucester Pl, Brighton. Tickets start from £15.

Saturday and Sunday – For the brave! Bungee UK @ Brighton Marina!

Always wanted to do a bungee jump? Well, here is your chance. This weekend, Bungee UK is coming to Brighton Marina offering you the chance of single or tandem jumps from a 160ft crane.

Jumps are available for Saturday and Sunday. The Octagon at Brighton Marina. Jumps are from £69 and are on sale here.

Saturday till Monday – Eat your way through Sussex and the Netherlands @ Hove Lawns!

As part of the Brighton and Hove Food Festival, the Sussex & The World Weekend will return to Hove Lawns with the annual Big Sussex Market. Get your hands on the best Sussex producers have to offer and fall in love with a selection of Dutch specialties like cheese and sausages.

Runs from Saturday to Monday from 10 am to 6 pm. Hove Lawns. Free entry.

Monday – Martlets Hove Carnival @ Hove Park

With a great variety of stalls and free entertainment like a BMX show, a Stix Drummers performance or a laser tag arena, Martlets Hove Carnival sure is a good pick when you are looking for some great fun with your family.

Monday from 12 pm to 6 pm. Hove Park, Goldstone Crescent, Hove. Free entry. Charity event.

Last chance for Brighton Festival and Artists Open Houses!

It’s gone so quick! You probably feel like they have only just begun and now Brighton Festival and Artists Open Houses are almost over. So, if you haven’t done so yet, this is your chance to sneak into the homes of some of our local artists and maybe buy a special birthday present.
