It’s the weekend! Soon it’ll be March and the evenings will be getting longer and the weather will be slightly milder than it has been all winter. See February out in style with the amazing things going on this weekend, from an Etsy market to High School Musical.

Women of Troy – image by Adam Trigg

Women of Troy: ‘In Troy, the war is over and the city is burning. The Gods shift their allegiances. The city’s once rich and powerful women have been herded together to await their fate at the hands of the victorious Greeks. Who can steer that fate?’. Women of Tory starts tonight until the 5th March.

A Local Boy: ‘When the body of a local teenager is found next to the war memorial in Romford, a community is shocked. A mother thinks of her son. A police officer searches for answers. A lonely girl waits at a bus stop, and two teenagers discover love – in a chat box, that is. In a world of instant connection of cyberchats and selfies, how well can we ever really know those around us? A Local Boy is a provocative, gripping and touchingly funny new play for teenagers about who we are and what we are capable of’. The play is showing at the Brighton Dome for this weekend only.Bright_Sparks_5_photo_by_Jon_Southcoasting

Big Science Saturday: As the Science Festival draws to a close, see it out in the best way possible with the Big Science Saturday. Experts present their research in the theatre alongside a venue-full of stands from top universities, giving you a chance to put professors in the hot seat and take part in interactive demos. Listen to talks by Margaret A. Boden about Artificial Intelligence or take a tour of the nanoworld with Peter Forbes. It’s free to enter the venue but talks cost £9.

Brighton Etsy Samples, Seconds and Supplies Fair: 30 local designer-makers will be clearing their studios this February, giving you the chance to grab a crafty bargain or a one-off handmade item. There will also be a selection of craft supplies you can have a rummage through. The event is free though donations will be taken at the door with all proceeds going to The Clock Tower Sanctuary.

Remember when it was uncool to like High School Musical? No me neither because it never was. Photo by Gaye Gerard/Getty Images

High School Musical: Because, why not? Fresh from their recent hit productions of The Crucible, #RandJ and Loserville, Apollo Productions present High School Musical! If you don’t know what High School Musical is about…where have you been? ‘Follow Troy, Gabriella and all the East High Wildcats as they negotiate the difficulties of teenage life and try to juggle the basketball championships, scholastic decathlon and the school musical!’ Even just writing that made me feel nostalgic for 2005.
