Casablanca, Lagos, Nairobi and Johannesburg: four important African cities, with their unique and original style, are taking their fashion and creativity to Brighton.
From 30th April 2016 to 8th January 2017, ‘Fashion Cities Africa’, the major UK exhibition of contemporary African fashion, will be on show in Brighton Museum & Art Gallery.
Designer, stylists, photographers and bloggers from each city will bring their own fashion scene and style choices, in order to show the extreme diversity of African fashion in the whole continent.
Parts of the exhibition will be both couture and street style, along with music, film and images.
In addition, Nairobi style entrepreneurs Papa Petite and Velma Rossa, also known as 2manysiblings, will bring their incredibly cool style to the Brighton Museum with and event including style, thrift, shop, upcycle, pose and photograph following 2manysiblings top tips. ‘Thrift Social for Fashion Cities Africa’ will be held at Brighton Museum on the 16th June from 7.00pm to 10.00pm.
And for who wants to know more about their stories and initiatives in art, fashion and style, Papa and Velma will talk about all of that, together with Hannah Azieb Pool, author of Fashion Cities Africa, on the 18th of June from 11.30am to 12.30pm.
