A charity auction with a twist returns to Brighton this April, giving attendees the chance to bid for prizes with their time rather then with their money.

The Time 2 Give Ball, which takes place in April, has chosen ten charities which will be supported on the night and throughout 2017 with volunteers.

In a change to normal gala dinners and auction events, the Time 2 Give ball asks its guests to bid for brilliant prizes with their time rather than with their money.

The hours collected on the evening are then distributed out to all of the charities who have applied for volunteer support.

Organisers say that applications from charities in Brighton and Hove have trebled in number since the event launched three years ago.

“Time is the new money” said Founder of the event Gail Bainbridge.

The ten charities who will be supported by this years’ event are:
1. Brighton City Partnership for Education
2. Carousel
3. Carers Centre
4. Fareshare
5. Headway East Sussex
6. Mindout
7. Ronald McDonald House
8. Rhythmix
9. Survivors’ Network
10. The Stroke Association

Gail Bainbridge from accountancy firm Bainbridge and Lewis came up with Time 2 Give whilst on leadership course in 2014.

“As part of the course we were asked to think of a project that would benefit our community. Brighton & Hove is a bursting with entrepreneurial small businesses which makes the city an exciting place to do business. As a local business owner myself I’ve always found it really important for me to give back to the local community.

“I came up with the idea for Time 2 Give to help build connections between small businesses and local charity and community projects.”
